Puzzles

Today we made "skip counting" puzzles! What a blast! Tonight see if you can put together your child's puzzle! It is in the important bag with a paper clip!

Reminders:

It seems like the Home Reading program is a success so far! I see lots of reading being done at home! That makes me
so proud! Over the next few weeks I will be reading with each student and testing them using our DRA kit (diagnostic reading assessment)!

Marshmellow Spaces

When we are printing in Grade 1/2, we often forget to put spaces between our words, and as Mrs. Murray calls it, it looks like alien writing. Canyoureadthiseasilyordoesitlooklikealienwritingtoyoutoo?

Haha...so for some motivation we used marshmellows as reminders to put a space! After we were done we got to eat them! Needless to say, everyone had spaces in between their words!

Marshmellow spaces sound much more fun than finger spaces!

Have a great weekend!

Don't forget Scholastic orders are due October 2nd and Picture Day is October 1st!

I can count backwards!!

Over the weekend I want you to practice with your "Caterpillar", counting backwards from 20!

We got to meet Miss. Johnson this week and she is a student at Brock University in Teachers College! She will be learning from me and the students over the next couple months and helping out in the classroom a few days a week! From Nov 18th - Dec 20th she will be with us everyday teaching and learning from all of us! She is lovely and very excited!

Have a great weekend and don't forget to read your B.E.A.R books!

The Heart of the Matter

In Science, we've been discussing what living things need to survive! Today we talked about a few important parts inside of our body and why they are so important. I have to admit, I was so impressed with their diagrams and labels! Review tonight the function of the heart, brain, lungs and stomach!

It's Okay To Be Different

Today we read It's Okay to be Different and talked about how we are all very different yet all very much the same! We all have different eyes, hair and noses but we all have feelings and we all deserve to be treated with respect! After we read the book we drew a picture of what we look like! I was super impressed and they were so proud of themselves!

Jitter Juice

No matter how old you are, or whether you are the teacher or the student, everyone always gets those first day jitters!!!! So today we read a book called "First Day Jitters" and talked about what we felt nervous about today. Then we had "jitter juice"!!!!!! The kids loved it and it totally got rid of all of our jitters!!!! It was like magic - and delicious too!!

I can't wait for another day with all of you tomorrow! :)
